Rocktoberfest at Bahia Marina 2004 Results
The 5th Annual Rocktoberfest fishing tournament was held on Saturday-Sunday, October 23-24, 4004. This is a 24hr fishing tournament open to all. In all 51 boats and 152 Anglers weathered the cold wind and high waves to catch and weigh in 26 Rock fish, 12 Flounder, 11 Tautog and 21 fish in the Open Category.
There were trophies and cash prizes awarded at the Beach Party at Fishtales which followed the tournament. Cash prizes totaled $11,500. Tournament Directors Erik Windrow and Shawn Harman thanked Ernie d’Eustachio and Walt Bozza for their help with registration and for being weigh master and statistician. They also expressed their appreciation to Heineken, Red Sun Apparel, Erik Windrow Realtor and Fishtales for sponsoring the tournament. They also thanked Bahia Marina for hosting the tournament.
First place in the rock fish category went to Del Baker Team SeaCraft winning $3725 for a 17.7 pound fish. Second place money $1750 was taken with a 15.5 lb fish caught by Les Schott on board the Centsless. Third place money of $1600 in the Rock fish category was won by Nick Bobento on board the Miss Parker. Third place added entry money was taken by the fourth heaviest fish a 14.8 lb Rock which captured $325 for Toby Kuczinski on board the All In.
In the Flounder category activity was slow and the first flounder did not come to the scales until almost 2 p.m. on Sunday. The first place prize money went to Jesse Harman, son of host Shawn Harman. Jesse’s flounder weighed in at 2.8 pounds and won for him $675. Second place money for a 2.6 lb flounder went to Bud Heim as did the third place money for a 2.1 lb flounder, bringing Bud’s winnings to $290 as they were not in the added entry categories. Added entry money of $205 for the 4th largest flounder went to Team Sea Craft and the 5th largest Flounder brought $140 to Tom Perry on board the Team Country Wide.
In the Tautog category Frank McCue on board the Skip’s took first place honors with a 3.9 lb tog, Buster Rubenald on the Skip’s took second place with a 3.6 lb tog bringing that crews winnings to $1020. The third place tog, a 3.1 lb fish was caught by Lance Smith on board the Long Fin winning him $150. The 5th larges tog took 3rd place added entry money of $125 and this too was caught on board the Skip’s.
In the Open category first place money of $670 was taken by Team Sea Craft. Second place money $400 for a Star Gazer was won by Zak Parker on board the Miss Parker and third place money of $270 was won by the Mike Tolachny on board the Skip’s.
Next year the Rocktoberfest tournament will be held on October 22 & 23, 2005 at the Bahia Marina at 21st Street on the bay.
